grinning in your face

Don't you mind people grinning in your face
Don't you mind people grinning in your face
There's one thing to bear in mind
A true friend is hard to find
Don't you mind people grinning in your face
Your mother she may talk about you
Your brothers and your sisters they will talk about you, too
No matter how you're trying to live
They will talk about you still
Don't you mind people grinning in your face
Don't you mind people grinning in your face
They'll jump you up and they jump you down
They'll try to turn you 'round and 'round
As soon as you turn your back around
They'll try and crush you down
Don't you mind people grinning in your face
Don't you mind people grinning in your face

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, richer than a king—
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

In junior year, our English teacher read us "Richard Cory" aloud. It was probably the most depressing day of my adolescent life. I think he followed it up with a one-two punch of "Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" and "Dulce et Decorum Est"--yow.

Its funny how those poems stick with you. I had to read "Charge of the Light Brigade" aloud. I've never read "Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" before. Excuse me while I blow my brains out.

I can't figure out how the White Stripes get such a heavy sound with just a gee-tar & drums, but it rocks. Simon & Garfunkle just sang a song I never want to hear again as long as I live. I may copy your habit of dual video postings of juxtapozitioning videos that somehow compliment each other nicely.
