no fun

the first time I heard the Sex Pistols was in 1979. At the time I did'nt realize how angry I was because of my parent's seperation and eventual divorce. A whole new world was opened up. I've never listened to the shit on the radio since then. There was a Tower records at Chris-Town Mall where I would go with my friends. A guy we called "Skinny" worked there and would turn us on to a bunch of bands that would change the way I looked at the world.(For Better or worse). The New York Dolls, Ramones, Iggy Pop, Billy Clone and the Same, Sham 69, the Clash, you get the picture. I remember hearing "No Fun" and instantly loving it. It condensed into one song the adolescent turmoil I was going through. I look at my kids and the way they find their voice in the music they listen to and it takes me back to those wonderful, crappy, exiting years. The funny thing is I can still relate to "No Fun".

That was another good one. '79 seems kinda early tho'. Didn't you still have a 'fro, Eagles shirt, & OP's then? maybe I'm just trippin' but I'm pretty sure "Year of the Cat" was what was playin' around the house then (al stewart). Or maybe Rumours. I remember Van Halen 1 & 2, meat puppets 1st 3, Ted nugent free for all, cat scratch fever, scream dream, Boston 1st, Cramps songs the lord, psychedelic jungle, X los angeles, wild gift, Nazeraeth hair of the dog, ultravox, Black Sabbath we sold our soul, sex pistols 1st & swindle, 9 below zero, B-52's 1st, wild planet, mesopotamia, Elvis costello all, pretenders, Clash all, Ramones, steve martin wild & crazy guy, Cheech & chong, romantics 1st 2, rolling stones some girls, joe jackson, polecats make that move, stray cats, blasters, ny dolls, sylvain sylvain, wall of voodoo, Devo, beatles white album, etc etc. also the coneheads poster & the Cheryl Tiegs poster, & witnessing Dad break your sex pistols record. But '79 was fro, bro.

No disrespect tho. You taught me everything I know (But a 'fro's a 'fro), I'll keep it on the down low. Oh yeah, & Billy Joel's Glass Houses & the Stranger.
